About Robert Hsu

As founder and president of Absolute Return Capital Advisors LLC. -- a private money management firm -- Robert Hsu has been making his clients and himself money by focusing on Asia's growth and identifying trends that deliver the greatest return. His firsthand knowledge of Chinese culture, business and government combined with his phenomenal track record as an investor make him uniquely qualified to help others build their fortune from the economic miracle underway in China.

Robert was born in Taiwan and raised in Southern California. He's an American citizen, though he shares his heritage with more than a billion ethnic Chinese around the world. While he's spoken English his entire life, Robert can also speak, read and write Mandarin fluently.

But being proficient in Chinese isn't the reason he's been successful in investing in Asia–there are more than a billion people around the world who can also read Chinese and have the same ethnic background as Robert. What make Robert unique is his history of investment success and understanding of what's happening in Asia today.

Starting his career as a trader and analyst for a global macro hedge fund, Robert was then hired by Goldman Sachs, where he learned about every aspect of international markets.

Taking his knowledge of international equities, interest rates, currencies, and commodities markets, Robert started his own firm, Absolute Return Capital Advisors. He has offices in Century City, situated right next to Beverly Hills and Hollywood.

Along with his duties of managing money at his firm, Robert also has three extremely successful investment newsletters, China Strategy, Asia Edge and Inside China Dispatch. China Strategy, in particular, has become one of the largest subscription-based services in the U.S. since its launch in 2006. To help him stay on top of the investment opportunities across Asia, Robert employs a team of analysts in Mainland China to keep him up to date with information pertaining to his current holding as well as potential new investments. Also, his fluency in Mandarin enables him to read Chinese newspapers and periodicals while at home in the U.S. to keep him well-informed of what's happening overseas. And Robert visits the Mainland several times a year, because he believes firmly that obtaining firsthand information has been crucial to his success.

On a personal note, Robert lives in Beverly Hills with his wife and two children. Robert enjoys Southern California for a number of reasons: 1) the weather, he's able to drive his convertible year round with the top down; 2) the exotic restaurants; and 3) the energy and excitement that comes with being in a place that is on the cutting edge of everything from food to fashion.
