Gearing up for your summer vacation? I know I am!
In just 10 days, I'm jetting off for nearly a three-week trip to China and Taiwan. While I'll be spending a decent portion of my time there researching and looking for new investment opportunities, I'll also have the opportunity to relax and take in some of the sites.
In fact, I'll be visiting six different cities in China and Taiwan, including the exotic mountain city of Dali and the tropical beach of Sanya. Both have pleasant weather, clean air, interesting local culture and nice scenery -- now that sounds like a recipe for an enjoyable vacation to me.
While these are two of China's most popular vacation destinations, another city in China continues to draw in a lot of tourists -- Xi'an. If you recall our discussion from two weeks ago, Xi'an is home to the fabled terracotta museum.
More than 2,250 years ago, Emperor Qin Shi Huang was buried in an underground complex, completed with 8,099 life-sized statues of foot soldiers, horsemen, chariots, horses and generals. All were discovered about 35 years ago when local farmers drilled for a well.
What's interesting, though, is that there are probably many more terracotta statues to be uncovered. That's why Chinese archeologists recently began a new excavation this past weekend.
Since archeologists began the third dig on Saturday, they've already dusted off two four-horse chariots and a few richly colored warriors. With such great discoveries already, the Chinese archeologists are excited about the dig's prospects.
